Anna and I have felt called to missions since before we met. After getting married in 2008 (in Monterrey, MX) our calling had not changed, but God had made it clear that it was not the time. In 2006 I had been given a wonderful opportunity to begin a job at a very good company where I had the possibility of making very good money. It was for this reason that I believed that God had put me there so that we would be able to send others. So for the last four years, that is what we have done and it has been wonderful to see the fruits of our gifts and God providing for us when we have given more than we could afford. Throughout this time, we still knew that at some point God had a place for us on the mission field, not just to send but also to go.

A Call To The Orphan Child

As I sat on the front porch of the CFM orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti in March of 2011, looking out underneath the shade of the beautiful Mango tree, I listened to the laughter and screams of the girls downstairs playing. I scanned through the mental pictures and memories in my mind that we had experienced over the previous five weeks. And what really stood out, were the kids. The lives of the beautiful children who touched our hearts during our times traveling over the last few months and solidified God's call and vision for us to the orphan child.

While the goals of our exploratory trips to Cancun and Haiti were important and our meetings, research and other activities were necessary as we laid the groundwork for the vision that God has given us, these things were only the busywork of our trips. The real reason we were in those places, was the kids, the people. That is the ministry. That is the Kingdom work. The rest is just the necessities that allow the Kingdom work to take place. We cannot wait to get to work!
